Are you a Leader or are you being Led?

Your dog is the leader IF:

• He jumps on you when you arrive home
• You open a door and he goes in front of you
• He barks and then you feed him
• Whenever he makes you do something

 

Naturally you are the leader WHEN:

• You walk through a door and he follows
• You make him sit to be fed, etc.

You must stick to this a 100% of the time because it will confuse and frustrate your dog if you suddenly give them the space to lead you. If we don’t put structure into the relationships with our dogs, guess who will? The dogs! If we do not give them the leadership they need, they will fill that vacant role themselves. For the dog to feel balanced he must connect to a stable leader. Let that be you.
