Work for Food

In the dog world, waiting is a part of their nature. They have to wait to eat.

Domestication means that dogs don't have to hunt for food but they still have to work for food. As newborns, puppies work for food by waiting for their mom. This offers a form of psychological exercise, and it is very important for a healthy mind.

Don’t feed dogs that show negative behaviors such as aggression or nervousness. Wait until the dogs have calmed down and display submissive energy before you put down the food in front of them. Before my dogs eat I take them for a 45 minute walk. In this way I allow my dogs to work for their food.

Every morning, should go like this: Project calm, assertive energy before you show your dog affection. Take your dog on a 45 min. Walk to exercise his body and mind. Once back home, prepare his food. Ask your dog to sit while you are filling his bowl. If he sits quietly and projects calm, submissive energy with no negative behaviors, place the bowl of food in front of him.

From your dog’s perspective, this is how nature intended dogs to live in order to have a happy and balanced life.
