Spaying and Neutering
Author: admin

Studies show that cats should be neutered at an early age. Neutering has a great impact on protecting wildlife from cats by stopping unwanted litters that are often left to add to the feral population. Keeping your cat in at night won't stop the mating.

The feral cat population has grown out of the numerous unwanted, runaway or lost domestic cats living in cities and the countryside and is far larger than a natural wild cat population would be. There is only one way of controlling the hunting of these feral cats, and that is to destroy the cats themselves - an unpleasant prospect that responsible cat ownership can help to mitigate in the future by spaying and neutering their cats.

About Cats
Author: admin

Domesticated cats are predators just like wild cats. They can stalk and hunt prey using tactics similar to those of leopards and tigers by pouncing; then deliver a lethal neck bite with their long canine teeth that severs the prey's spinal cord, or asphyxiate it by crushing the windpipe.

Cats have special teeth and they are meat eaters. The cat's tongue shows sharp spines, papillae, used for ripping flesh from their kill.

These papillae, small though, have backward-facing hooks that contain keratin and assist in their grooming. Cats eat almost no vegetables. They feed exclusively on meat, preferably their own freshly killed prey. All cats have a genetic anomaly that prevents them from tasting sweetness, so the “sweet tooth” does not exist for them.

Are you a Leader or are you being Led?
Author: admin

Your dog is the leader IF:

  • He jumps on you when you arrive home
  • You open a door and he goes in front of you
  • He barks and then you feed him
  • Whenever he makes you do something

Naturally you are the leader WHEN:

  • You walk through a door and he follows
  • You make him sit to be fed, etc.

You must stick to this a 100% of the time because it will confuse and frustrate your dog if you suddenly give them the space to lead you. If we don’t put structure into the relationships with our dogs, guess who will? The dogs! If we do not give them the leadership they need, they will fill that vacant role themselves. For the dog to feel balanced he must connect to a stable leader. Let that be you.
